Conference and events

Our annual conference and annual review meeting will take place virtually on Thursday 13 October 2022, 9.30am-1pm. 

Our theme for conference this year is ‘Engagement and participation’.

We are looking for occupational therapists to share projects or case studies on engaging and working with people with learning disabilities including personalised care approach, quality improvement and research. Presentations should be no longer than 10 minutes, plus 5 minutes for questions and answers. We also welcome abstracts from people who have managed occupational therapists or engaged with occupational therapists as a service user who would like to share their experiences on the value of the profession.

If you would be interested in submitting an abstract, complete the abstract submission form and return it to us by 26 August 2022. 

Successful abstract submissions will be informed by 5 September 2022. All speakers will be required to submit their 10 minute presentation session by the 4 October 2022.

Conference 2018

In 2018, People with Learning Disabilities joined the The Royal College of Occupational Therapists Annual Conference.

It was primarily a scientific based programme with keynote and plenary sessions.

Conference 2016

'The Value of Occupational Therapy - Evidence from Practice'

The RCOT Specialist Section - People with Learning Disabilities Annual Conference 2016 took place on the 7th October 2016 at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. The theme for the conference was "The Value of Occupational Therapy - Evidence from Practice". Supporting the Royal College’s initiative of demonstrating the value of the profession, the conference aimed to stimulate discussion and provide a platform for occupational therapists to share practice with others.

This year we also introduced a poster exhibition into our conference which further added value to our event. This provided you with an invaluable CPD opportunity.

We had a great conference and it was a very inspiring day.
