The Challenge
The lockdown in March 2020 meant that all student placements had to be cancelled. In June 2020, one of the universities that our Trust works closely with requested a practice educator to take on a student for a fully remote placement.
The Change
Our student worked fully from home and we used the platforms of Near Me and MS Teams to facilitate this Technology Enabled Practice Placement to allow our student to engage with both patients and professional colleagues.
The Impact
Our student had a very successful placement experience and it was also an extremely positive experience to have as a practice educator in terms of increasing confidence and support for further student placements across the Trust.
