Thank you for taking part in Occupational Therapy Week 2020!
For this year’s celebrations we have been inspiring people from all backgrounds to choose occupational therapy as a career.
On 2 November 2020 we kick started #ChooseOT, our new careers campaign to inspire future occupational therapists.
We launched a social media campaign to promote occupational therapy careers with students, their influencers, graduates and mature adults.
The campaign features videos of occupational therapists talking about why they love their careers – you can find these videos below. It also directs school students to our new careers website, which provides information about becoming an occupational therapist.
Members have an important role to play in #ChooseOT. During Occupational Therapy Week, you told your stories about why you love being occupational therapists – you can find these stories on the #ChooseOT wall. You also shared #ChooseOT resources and the new careers website to promote occupational therapy as a career.
Members also contacted local schools and will be holding virtual careers talks for students over the coming months.
Have you arranged a virtual careers talk? Let us know by completing the form below.
#ChooseOT continues
We’ll share more about the next steps to inspire future occupational therapists. In the meantime, you can still get involved by completing the three actions below.
How you can get involved in #ChooseOT
1. Tell your story
Share why you love being an occupational therapist on social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram).
- Start your post with: I love being an occupational therapist because
- Include the hashtag #ChooseOT
- Link to the new careers website: ChooseOT.co.uk
- Post with a photo of yourself or the #ChooseOT image (download below)
You’ll then see your story appear on the new #ChooseOT wall of stories.
2. Reach out to schools
You can inspire school students throughout the school year by giving a virtual careers talk. Get in touch with your local school using our guide and email template, and offer to give a virtual careers talk to students. You can use the presentation and guide for your talk.
These are available for download in English and bilingual Welsh/English.
