Designability is a national charity helping disabled people to live with greater independence with a specific focus on family mobility. We do this through the design and engineering of products alongside consultancy services, allowing us to apply our expertise in user centred design working specifically with disabled people, across a broad range of products, projects and services.
One of the products we provide is Wizzybug, an innovative, fun, powered wheelchair for children aged above 14 months. It is available free of charge to families across the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) via our Wizzybug loan Scheme.
Wizzybugs can be used indoors and outdoors under adult supervision. Children are not expected to have driving skills; the purpose is to unlock the opportunity for child development through fun, exploration and play.
Families can apply direct using the application form online here. Families on low-income who need support with the cost of attending their appointment can apply for assistance from our Access Fund. Or appointments are held at our HQ in Bath, and at our partners clinics William Merritt Centre in Leeds and Mae Murray Foundation in Larne, NI.
