Student Story: Leo, 3rd year student
Leo Keller is a third-year student at Northumbria University
Occupational therapy appealed to me because of the variety of possible work settings. The placements throughout the degree have given me great insight into the many avenues to go down (plus the many potential areas for occupational therapy that are yet to be created).
This degree has allowed me to become a part of a community of occupational therapists. I feel well prepared for an interesting, diverse and fulfilling future career.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to learn and draw on different sciences and placement settings to develop a complete picture of the value of occupation. Our lectures, educators, peers and colleagues have been consistently friendly and supportive; this degree has allowed me to become a part of a community of occupational therapists.
I feel well prepared for an interesting, diverse and fulfilling future career. If you’re considering studying occupational therapy, speak to a few occupational therapists working in different settings and shadow occupational therapists where you can. And if it appeals, welcome! It’s a rewarding degree and a great profession.
