Moving and handling
Moving and handling refers to any activity that requires an individual to lift, move or support a load.
When a person is restricted in doing their occupations through illness, disability, changing life circumstances or barriers within the environment, the effective use of moving and handling techniques, equipment and/or adaptations may assist. Occupation should always be the occupational therapist’s primary concern. The focus should be on the person’s occupations they want to, need to or are expected to do.
