Retired members - Join RCOT today
Are you considering retirement? Or have you just retired? Would you still like to play an active role in your profession?
Although you are no longer practicing as an occupational therapist and are no longer on the HCPC register, RCOT still offers lots of opportunities; you can still play an active role and enjoy continued involvement in our professional community.
Is there life after retirement?
Seeing redundancy on the horizon, I was unsure what my occupational therapy future would be. I wasn’t sure if I would want to take up employment again in one form or another but I did know that it was too soon to cut my ties with the profession. I offered my services as Secretary of the NEC of the Specialist Section - Older People. I have ended up doing the role for 5 years and found it really enjoyable. I have been available to volunteer for attending meetings and representing the Specialist Section at conferences, and would definitely recommend it to others contemplating life after retirement.
Retired members have a wealth of experience, expertise and knowledge that makes them a valuable member of our profession. It doesn’t matter what age you retire from employment you can still become a RCOT retired member. We offer a reduced retired member rate so that you can remain part of our professional association and benefit from this membership category.
