About the award
RCOT Approved Learning is a quality assurance award for Continuing Professional Development educational resources that benefit occupational therapy personnel and other healthcare professionals. Awarded courses are benchmarked to international CPD standards.
The award is open to RCOT Branches and commercial providers who wish to demonstrate that their learning materials meet recognised standards. Applications are assessed by qualified RCOT members. Once awarded, RCOT Approved Learning is valid for three years. Commercial courses are listed at the end of this page.
We regret that we do not offer RCOT Approved Learning to credit-bearing courses leading to formal qualifications. Events linked to product demonstration must include a significant proportion of wider CPD content. For product advertisement, please see our Advertising and Sponsorship web page.
[RCOT quality assurance] has been essential, especially with our NHS customers. This allows a legitimate, high quality and relevant training course to become part of their development.
The instructions for the application process although very detailed were very clear and the support and guidance throughout the process has been excellent.
To achieve the award, resources must meet standards that cover the following:
- Content
- Accessibility
- Participant engagement
- Assessment and reinforcement of learning
- Relevance
- Learning outcomes
- Course support and management
- Course follow up
- Quality monitoring and improvement
