College of Occupational Therapists Diploma
The degree-equivalent value of the Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists (DipCOT) is recognised by universities and higher education institutions.
Please note the Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists (DipCOT) was replaced by the BSc qualification in the mid-1990s. RCOT's name change in 2017 does not impact on the title of this award, and should continue to be referred to as DipCOT.
To qualify as an occupational therapist you will now need to undertake an approved programme of study in occupational therapy at one of the 40 UK universities offering occupational therapy education. There are a variety of occupational therapy programmes available in the UK. Most are Bachelor of Science (with Honours) degrees. Postgraduate Diplomas and Master's degrees are also available.
The Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists (DipCOT) award attracts 240 points at levels 1 and 2 for the purposes of the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) of the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA). The DipCOT attracts 360 points at levels 1, 2 and 3 in the Scottish system of SCOTCATS.
